DATA SCIENCE MSc

The Masters in Data Science is a specialist version of the MSc (Computing Science) which will provide you with a thorough grounding in the analysis and use of large data sets together with experience of conducting a substantial development or research project focused on Data Science techniques, preparing you for responsible positions in the Big Data and IT industries.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Core courses

  • PROGRAMMING AND SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT (H)

Provides a short, intensive, hands-on introduction to the software and tools necessary for the MSc programmes in Computing Science: the Java and Python programming languages, associated tools, and the LINUX operating system.

  • RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS (M)

This course covers the fundamental principles of the scientific method, and the core skills of planning, designing, executing, evaluating and presenting research. In addition, it introduces the social, ethical, legal, and professional issues involved in the widespread deployment of information technology

  • INTRODUCTION TO DATA SCIENCE AND SYSTEMS (M)

To give students a grounding in foundational elements of data science theory and systems, including Data transformations, Database Systems, and practical data processing pipelines.

  • MACHINE LEARNING & ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR DATA SCIENTISTS (M)

A basic introduction to the field of artificial intelligence focusing on an introduction to the foundations of machine learning, based around a series of practical case studies using data from a range of research areas.

  • MSC PROJECT FOR COMPUTING SCIENCE+

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent (eg GPA 3.0/4 or equivalent) with Computing Science as a major subject. " 컴퓨터공학 전공자 선발"

  • 6.5 with no subtests under 6.0.

  • Employment and Experience: Please complete this section as fully as possible with all employments relevant to your course. Additional details may be attached in your personal statement/proposal where appropriate.

Reference: Please provide one reference. This should typically be an academic reference but in cases where this is not possible then a reference from a current employer may be accepted instead. Certain programmes, such as the MBA programme, may also accept an employer reference. If you already have a copy of a reference on letter headed paper then please upload this to your application.
